B2B Digital Marketing Consultant
Most B2B marketing fails because it borrows B2C tactics. A B2B digital marketing consultant who plans for buying committees, six-month cycles and pipeline — not for a same-day conversion that was never going to happen.
- Built for buying committees: four to seven people who each need a different reason to say yes.
- LinkedIn, Google and intent data used where deal size justifies the cost per click, and dropped where it does not.
- Content mapped to a three to nine month cycle, so the pipeline you build this quarter closes in the next two.
- Measurement past last-click: MQL to SQL leakage, pipeline influence and cost per closed deal rather than cost per form.

B2B digital marketing works when all four pillars connect
A B2B digital marketing consultant is only worth hiring when one person holds all four. In B2B the handover between them is where pipeline dies — marketing counts leads, sales counts opportunities, and neither number reconciles to closed revenue.
Strategy
Define the buying committee, the segments worth funding and the offer each role responds to, before any budget is committed. See the marketing strategy work.

Paid media
LinkedIn and Google campaigns priced against deal value rather than cost per lead, built by the person who wrote the strategy. See paid social and PPC services.

Organic & content
Search and content mapped to a long consideration cycle, so the same asset works at month one and month six. See content and social.

Measurement
Pipeline, not form fills. One view joining spend, opportunities and closed revenue across a cycle longer than any ad platform reports on. See lead generation.

B2C Tactics vs. A Real B2B Funnel
Why B2B Businesses Hire a Specialist Marketing Consultant
Most agencies are built for B2C and quietly apply the same playbook to B2B. It produces cheap leads, an unhappy sales team and a pipeline that never converts — because the tactics were designed for a decision one person makes in an afternoon.
Book a Free Consultation
Optimised for the wrong conversion
Campaigns tuned to cost per lead reward the cheapest form fill, which in B2B is usually the least qualified. Optimising toward pipeline changes almost every media decision.

One message, four to seven buyers
A B2B purchase is agreed by a committee. The user, the manager, finance and often IT each need a different argument, and one landing page rarely carries all four.

Attribution stops at last click
A three to nine month cycle outlives cookie windows and platform reporting. Judging channels on last click systematically defunds the ones that create demand.

MQL to SQL leakage nobody owns
Marketing reports leads, sales reports opportunities, and the gap between the two is never anyone’s number. That gap is usually the single largest source of wasted spend.

LinkedIn treated as expensive Facebook
LinkedIn costs several times more per click and only pays back when deal size and targeting justify it. Run on B2C logic it simply drains budget faster.

Content written for search, not for buyers
Ranking for a term your buyer never types is not a win. In B2B the highest-value content often has almost no search volume and closes deals anyway.

Junior hands on senior fees
B2B strategy is sold at director level and executed by someone who has never sat in an enterprise sales call. You pay for judgement and receive process.

Reporting built to reassure
Monthly decks full of impressions and MQLs exist to justify the retainer. Reporting should say what to do next, and sometimes that is to spend less and fix the offer.

How Working Together Actually Starts
- 1
A free 30-minute call
You describe the deal size, the sales cycle and who signs off. I say plainly whether a B2B digital marketing consultant is the right answer at your stage — below a certain deal value the honest answer is often sales hiring, not marketing spend.
- 2
A written 90-day plan
An audit of analytics, ad accounts, CRM stages and search visibility, then a plan naming the segments to fund, the channels to stop paying for, the offer each committee role responds to, and the pipeline number we are moving. It is yours whether we continue or not.
- 3
I build it and run it
Campaigns, landing pages, content and pipeline reporting handled by me, with a weekly note on what changed and why. Reporting runs to closed revenue, not to form fills, and there is no twelve-month contract to leave.

B2B Digital Marketing Consultant FAQs
What does a B2B digital marketing consultant do?
A B2B digital marketing consultant is an independent specialist you hire for judgement rather than headcount. The work is deciding which segments deserve budget, what each member of the buying committee needs to hear, which channels to switch off, and which pipeline number the quarter is measured against.
In practice it is an audit, a written strategy, then hands-on work across paid, organic and site conversion — done by one person rather than passed down a chain. See the shape of that in my consultancy services or book an intro call.
How is B2B digital marketing different from B2C?
Three things: the decision is made by a committee rather than a person, the cycle runs three to nine months rather than an afternoon, and the value of a customer is high enough that a expensive click can still be profitable.
Each of those inverts a normal B2C instinct. Cheap leads become a warning sign, last-click attribution becomes actively misleading, and content that ranks for nothing can still close deals. That is why the same agency playbook so rarely transfers.
We get plenty of leads but sales say they are rubbish. What is wrong?
Almost always the campaign is optimised toward cost per lead. Ad platforms are extremely good at finding the cheapest form fill, and in B2B the cheapest form fill is usually the least qualified person in the market.
The fix is to feed qualified-opportunity data back into the platforms and optimise toward that instead, then rebuild the offer so it filters rather than attracts. That work sits inside lead generation.
Is LinkedIn advertising worth the cost?
Only when deal size justifies it. LinkedIn clicks cost several times a Google click, so it pays back at high contract values with tightly defined targeting, and drains budget quickly at low ones.
The first audit works out whether your economics support it before any money is committed. Where they do not, Google search plus content usually delivers more pipeline for the same spend. See paid social.
How do you measure marketing when the sales cycle is six months?
By tracking pipeline created rather than leads captured, and by joining ad platform data to CRM stages so an opportunity opened in March can still be credited to a campaign that ran in January.
That means accepting a reporting lag and judging channels on influenced pipeline rather than last click. It is less flattering than a platform dashboard and considerably more useful in a board meeting.
How much does a B2B marketing consultant cost?
It depends on whether you need the thinking, the doing, or both. A one-off audit with a 90-day plan is a fixed fee. An ongoing engagement where I also build and run campaigns is a monthly retainer scoped to the channels involved.
All published plans are on the pricing page in plain figures. For B2B the relevant comparison is not the fee but the cost of one closed deal — if the plan cannot pay for itself in a quarter, say so on the contact page and we will scope smaller.
Do we need content marketing or just paid ads?
Both, but not at once. Paid captures the demand that already exists and proves which messages work; content compounds and reduces what you have to pay for the same pipeline later.
Starting with paid is usually right because it produces evidence in weeks, and the winning ad copy then tells you exactly what the content should say. See PPC services and content and social.
Can you work alongside our in-house marketing team?
Yes, and for many B2B teams that is the better arrangement. The team executes, I hold the strategy, the media decisions and the measurement, with a standing call to keep everyone pointed at the same number.
That way judgement is bought without adding headcount, and the knowledge stays in your business rather than leaving with an agency. See the consulting engagement.
How long before we see results?
Paid channels show cost and quality signals inside three to four weeks, but B2B pipeline is honest only after a full sales cycle. If yours runs six months, judging the work at month two is judging noise.
What should improve early is lead quality, sales feedback and cost per qualified opportunity. Real timelines from real engagements are in the client success stories.
What do you need from us to get started?
Read access to analytics, ad accounts and Search Console, CRM stage definitions with honest close rates, average deal value, and one person who can approve decisions.
The CRM piece matters more in B2B than anywhere else, because without it every channel judgement is guesswork. Send what you have through the contact form and the first call fills in the rest.
