  • Paid media in GBP across Google, Meta and LinkedIn, with budget moved weekly toward whatever is genuinely converting.
  • Search and content built for UK buying language, including the local and comparison queries competitors overlook.
  • UK GDPR consent and ASA and CAP compliance built into the campaign, not bolted on after a complaint.

UK digital marketing works when all four pillars connect

A digital marketing consultant for the UK is only worth hiring when one person holds all four. Most of what a London agency invoices for is the handover between them — strategy passed to a media buyer, media passed to a content team, and none of it reconciled against revenue.

What you actually get

Hiring a digital marketing consultant in the UK is only useful when something changes between spend, enquiries and revenue. These are the three things that land in your business.

  • Growth system

A written plan for the first 90 days

Acquisition, conversion and retention planned as one system across your UK regions, not three channels that never speak to each other.

One dashboard you can read in a minute

Ad spend, enquiries, qualified leads and revenue in pounds, joined into a single commercial view instead of four platform tabs.

  • The work itself

London Retainer vs. One Accountable Consultant

Why UK Businesses Hire a Remote Digital Marketing Consultant

Nothing here is an argument against UK agencies — at real scale they earn their fee. Below that scale, most of a London retainer pays for Soho rent, account layers and new-business time rather than work on your account.

  • London rent inside your fee

    London rent inside your fee

A central London retainer carries office costs and account management before a pound reaches media. Remote consulting removes that overhead without removing the seniority.

  • You meet the pitch team, not the work team

You meet the pitch team, not the work team

The people in the pitch are rarely the people on your account afterwards. With a consultant, whoever wins the work is whoever does it.

  • Regional markets treated as one

    Regional markets treated as one

London, Manchester and Newcastle price and buy differently. A single national campaign across all of them wastes budget in the regions that were never going to convert.

  • Junior hands on senior fees

    Junior hands on senior fees

Strategy is sold at director level and executed by someone eighteen months into their career. You pay for judgement and receive process.

  • ASA and CAP rules learned the hard way

ASA and CAP rules learned the hard way

Claims, pricing and testimonials all sit under the CAP Code. Getting that wrong means a ruling that follows your brand name in search results for years.

  • Consent handled as an afterthought

    Consent handled as an afterthought

UK GDPR is not only a legal box. Consent implemented badly quietly breaks conversion tracking, and every optimisation after that is guesswork.

  • Nobody owns the number

    Nobody owns the number

Media blames creative, creative blames the site, the site team blames the offer. One consultant across all four removes the place for the blame to go.

  • Too slow to change direction

    Too slow to change direction

By the time an agency has run a change through three approval layers, the auction has moved. A consultant changes course the same afternoon you decide to.

How Working Together Actually Starts

  1. 1

    A free 30-minute call

You describe where the budget currently goes and what it is meant to produce. I say plainly whether a remote digital marketing consultant is right for a UK business at your stage — sometimes it is a hire, sometimes an agency, and saying so costs me nothing.

  2. 2

    A written 90-day plan

An audit of analytics, ad accounts and search visibility, then a plan naming the UK regions to fund, the channels to stop paying for, the budget split in pounds and the single number we are moving. It is yours whether we continue or not.

  3. 3

I build it and run it

Campaigns, landing pages, content and reporting handled by me, with a weekly note on what changed and why. My hours cover the full UK working day, and there is no twelve-month contract to leave.

UK Digital Marketing Consultant FAQs

  • What does a digital marketing consultant in the UK do?

A digital marketing consultant is an independent specialist you hire for judgement rather than headcount. For a UK business that means deciding which regions and channels deserve budget, which should be switched off, what the offer should say, and which single number the next quarter is measured against.

In practice it is an audit, a written strategy, then hands-on work across paid, organic and site conversion — done by one person rather than passed down a chain. See the shape of that in my consultancy services or book an intro call.

  • Do you work with businesses in London, Manchester and Hertfordshire?

Yes — and Newcastle and the rest of the UK. The practice is fully remote by design, so there is no travel cost inside the fee and no reason to favour London over the regions.

What changes per region is the plan, not the price. London competes on creative volume and cost per click, the North West and North East on local search and service intent, Hertfordshire on tight geographic targeting around the M25. Tell me your patch on the contact page.

  • How much does a digital marketing consultant cost in the UK?

It depends on whether you need the thinking, the doing, or both. A one-off audit with a 90-day plan is a fixed fee. An ongoing engagement where I also build and run campaigns is a monthly retainer scoped to the channels involved.

All published plans are on the pricing page in plain figures — nothing hidden behind a discovery call. If none fits, say so on the contact page and I will scope something that does.

  • Are you based in the United Kingdom?

No — the practice is fully remote and works with UK clients from outside the country. That is stated plainly because it is the honest answer, and because it is exactly why the fee buys more media than a London retainer of the same size.

What you get instead of an office is a senior consultant doing the work personally across your working day. My background and full resume are public so you can judge that before committing to anything.

  • How much of the UK working day do you cover?

Effectively all of it. The time difference is small enough that meetings sit comfortably inside UK office hours, morning or afternoon, without either side working unsociable times.

Between calls you get a written weekly update on what changed and why, so progress never waits for a meeting. If a launch needs live coverage, that is planned in advance.

  • Do you handle UK GDPR and ASA compliance?

Consent and tracking are built to work under UK GDPR and PECR, and ad claims are written against the CAP Code before they run rather than after a complaint. Comparative pricing, guarantees and testimonials are the three that catch most advertisers.

This matters commercially as well as legally: consent implemented properly is what keeps conversion tracking accurate, and every optimisation after that depends on it. See how it fits into lead generation.

  • Is a remote consultant cheaper than a UK agency?

Usually, though the saving is not the main argument. A UK agency fee carries offices, account management, new-business time and the layers between the person who sold the work and the person doing it. A consultant carries almost none of that.

The bigger difference is where the money lands: a larger share goes into media and into the work itself rather than into coordination. Compare that against the plans on the pricing page.

  • Which channels work best for UK businesses right now?

For most UK businesses the honest answer is two done properly rather than six done thinly. Google captures the demand that already exists, Meta creates it, and LinkedIn earns its place when the deal size justifies the cost per click.

The right mix depends on price point and sales cycle, which is what the first audit establishes. The disciplines are documented under PPC services, paid social and social media marketing.

  • How long before we see results?

Paid channels move first — a rebuilt campaign structure and better creative usually shift cost per lead inside three to four weeks. Conversion work on the site lands in a similar window because the changes are small and testable.

Organic search is the slow compounding one and realistically takes three to six months to show in revenue rather than rankings. Real timelines from real engagements are in the client success stories.

  • What do you need from us to get started?

Read access to analytics, ad accounts and Search Console, an honest number for what a customer is worth, and one person on your side who can approve decisions. That is genuinely the whole list.

You do not need a brief, a strategy document or tidy data — producing those is my job. Send what you have through the contact form and the first call fills in the rest.
